In Foxwoods Casino’s early days, it faced the marketing challenge of drawing visitors to rural western Connecticut in light of the popularity of east-coast competitor Atlantic City and, of course, the gambling mecca of Las Vegas.
Approach
Signature embarked upon a strategy of using events to attract visitors to the new gambling palace in western Connecticut. Individual ads would promote boxing matches, entertainment options, celebrity performances and gambling-related events to draw visitors to Foxwoods. While the “event” might be the primary motive for their visit, it would also give them the chance to “sample” Foxwoods’ world-class amenities and gaming center thereby, over time, establishing Foxwoods’ foothold in the North American gambling industry.
